The most expansive and truly one-of-a-kind of Open Sky’s Star Seeker experiences, Polaris takes its name from the North Star, a constant in the night sky that has guided explorers and dreamers for centuries. Nearly fixed in its place above the horizon, Polaris has long offered a sense of direction and assurance beneath vast skies. This camp invites you to find your own bearings in much the same way — by slowing down, looking up, and letting the landscape take the lead.
Elevated above the desert, Polaris offers sweeping views of the peaks of Zion National Park’s West Temple by day and an extraordinary view of the night sky after dark. The iconic stargazing alcove, tucked into the side of the camp and outfitted with a king-size bed, invites you to settle beneath the stars while remaining in the comfort of your retreat. With an unobstructed view overhead, you may find yourself tracing constellations across the Milky Way or searching for Polaris itself.
A second king-size bed occupies the main living space, with the two sleeping areas separated by a privacy curtain. For another perspective, stretch out on the stargazing hammock, suspended between earth and sky. It’s equally well suited to an afternoon nap, a little sun soaking, or simply taking in the vastness of Zion.
Outside, a custom-designed 16-foot swimming pool and adjoining hot tub are crafted from a repurposed shipping container, with a dual-sided horizon edge that seems to dissolve into the surrounding landscape. Water, desert and sky appear to meet at the horizon, creating a remarkable place to cool off, unwind, or watch the colors of Zion change as the sun goes down.
From the main tent entrance, the expansive patio unfolds into an outdoor living space with a seating area positioned to take in the views, then continues to a pool deck with loungers. A short flight of stairs leads to a rock-surrounded fire pit with additional seating, creating another intimate spot to gather beneath the stars.
Inside, Polaris is thoughtfully appointed with refined modern finishes and details throughout. The ensuite bathroom features a hand-hammered copper soaking tub, heated floors, and a double-headed shower, offering a comfortable place to restore after a day outdoors. A kitchenette and sink with mini fridge and freezer provide convenience for simple meals and snacks, while heating and air conditioning keep the camp comfortable throughout the seasons. A seasonal outdoor shower offers another way to embrace the surrounding wilderness.
Private parking is available near the camp, though reaching Polaris requires a short approach and a series of steps from the parking area to the entrance. Its elevated setting is part of what makes the camp feel so removed and secluded. A little extra effort that gives way to expansive views and a retreat unlike any other at Open Sky.
Designed with couples in mind, Star Seeker Polaris accommodates two to four guests. With its elevated setting, expansive views and distinctive ways to experience both the landscape and night sky, Star Seeker Polaris offers a place to pause, look up, and find a little quiet assurance of your own.
