4-wheel drive is not required to get to Open Sky Zion. The route to Open Sky Zion is paved highway with the exception of 3.5 miles of improved dirt road, Dalton Wash Road. This road takes you off the beaten path while winding up a beautiful canyon and is maintained by Washington County Road Department. Depending on weather and usage, it can be quite washboarded at times. If you take it slow, no matter the road’s condition, we promise you’ll enjoy some gorgeous scenery driving in. We do recommend keeping an eye on regional weather conditions. The outdoors can be rugged in the Zion region and we are experiencing drought conditions. Exceptionally heavy rainfall can cause the roads to be slippery or wash out. If you visit during the winter season the road can be icy and snowy at times.
