The main (south) entrance to Zion is 16 miles from Open Sky, or a 25-minute drive. Our property is unique in that it remotely borders the far west side of Zion National Park.
We recommend flying into either Las Vegas International Airport (LAS) or St. George Airport (SGU) . You can rent a car from either location and drive to Open Sky.
From Las Vegas to Open Sky – Approximately two hours and 45 minutes. Please keep in mind the one-hour time zone difference between Nevada and Utah when planning your travel.
From St. George Airport to Open Sky – Approximately 45 minutes.
From Zion National Park South Entrance – Approximately 25 minutes.
You don’t need four-wheel drive to get to Open Sky. The drive to Open Sky is paved highway with the exception of 3.5 miles of improved dirt road, Dalton Wash Road.
This road, maintained by Washington County Road Department, takes you off the beaten path while winding up a beautiful canyon. Depending on weather and usage, it can be quite washboarded at times. If you take it slow, no matter the road’s condition, we promise you’ll enjoy some gorgeous scenery driving in.
We do recommend keeping an eye on regional weather conditions. The outdoors can be rugged in the Zion region and we are experiencing drought conditions. Exceptionally heavy rainfall can cause the roads to be slippery or wash out. If you visit during the winter season the road can be icy and snowy at times.
The closest services for gas, food, ice, laundry, and groceries is La Verkin and Hurricane. We recommend stopping for your shopping needs before driving up to Open Sky.
Yes, we have built out approximately five miles of hiking trails for our guests, including a route to our property on the mesa above the camps. You never have to leave Open Sky property to enjoy the beauty of the Zion region.
You will be required to place a 100% deposit at the time of booking your reservation. If you were charged a lesser deposit, the remainder of your reservation will be due at check-in.

Due to our remote location, cell phone coverage can be spotty. To accommodate your connectivity, we have Starlink internet services throughout the property and at each camp. We have found that Verizon tends to have the best coverage at Open Sky Zion.
All tents have framed entry doors with key-padded locks, and rear doors are lockable as well. In addition, the Open Sky property has a gated entrance to the resort and only registered guests with the passcode may enter the property.
