Be Prepared – What to Bring For Your Trip

Tips to be prepared for your upcoming trip at Open Sky

Open Sky sits in a mecca of outdoor adventures and beautiful sights waiting for you to experience. We provide a lot of your comforts to you during your stay, however, there are some personal items that we recommend you bring to enhance your experience.

We provide:

  • Clean filtered water at your camp
  • Luxury king size beds, sheets, blankets
  • Luxury bath linens, robes, & slippers
  • Locally made toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, lotion
  • Welcome basket at your camp with snacks
  • Ensuite bathroom with heated floors
  • Coffee maker with pods and ceramic cups
  • Personal gas grill with grilling utensils
  • Personal gas fire pit with s’mores kits
  • Yoga mats
  • Walking sticks

You should consider bringing:

Large water bottles:

Water is the most important thing to remember in our climate. It is easy to get dehydrated and many visitors don’t take into consideration the extra water that they will need to consume. Even if it is cool outside, your body will require a lot more water than usual. We recommend that you bring large water bottles or CamelBak packs to keep water on you all the time.

We provide reverse osmosis filtered water for our guests in the check-in office and at your room’s tap so that you can refill your water vessel regularly.

Appropriate Clothing:

Zion is located at a transition point between desert and mountains which is why it is one of the most interesting places on earth. Winters are mild, but you can expect some snow and chilly temperatures. Spring and Fall have warm days and somewhat chilly nights. Summer has hot days and cool evenings. Though our tents are climate controlled with A/C and heat, please bring appropriate clothing to keep you comfortable during your stay. We recommend dressing in layers and to check the forecast prior to your trip to know what to expect.

For all situations, we recommend you let someone know where you will be hiking and be sure to bring:

  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Sun hat
  • Water bottle(s)
  • High energy foods
  • First aid supplies

Hiking – There are so many trails to explore:

Zion and the surrounding areas have countless trails to explore. From slot canyons to summit hikes, there are trails for all skill levels and interests. Bring your hiking boots, walking shoes, water sandals (if you want to explore water trails) and hiking poles. Many items can also be rented nearby.

Mountain Biking – There’s an epic trail that starts near the property:

Guacamole Trail is one of the best mountain biking trails in the region and starts right near our property. Bring or rent your bikes, helmet, and shoes and enjoy this epic ride with amazing views.
